Educational Philosophy
In accordance with Scripture (Colossians 2:8), Seacrest Christian School is committed to a distinctively Christian philosophy of education that is summarized in the following core beliefs:
-
Children are image-bearers of God and should therefore be treated with respect and love (Genesis 1:26).
-
Before God, parents are the primary agents responsible for the education and training of their children. Therefore, the school serves as a partner with the parents in the educational process (Deuteronomy 6 and Ephesians 6).
-
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of all knowledge (Proverbs 1:7).
-
We are commanded to bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).
-
In Christ is hidden all the treasures of knowledge and wisdom (Colossians 2:3).
-
In order to be successful in both academics and life, students need to develop life-long learning skills that include reading, writing, and arithmetic.
-
All instruction should be both age- and grade-level appropriate.
-
Self-discipline and self-control are absolutely essential in order to provide a classroom atmosphere conducive to a safe and secure learning environment.
-
The goal of education is to provide young people with the knowledge and skills needed in order to be successful in the vocation to which God has called them to minister. While admittance into excellent schools and colleges, and a comfortable life-style may be the results of a good education, they do not represent the true goal of education.
-
In all things, including education, glorifying God is our highest priority.
Therefore, with the firm understanding that we will ultimately answer to God concerning both the methods we used in the instruction of students and the content we taught them, Seacrest Christian School is committed to providing your child the best education possible. |

PRE-SCHOOL Full-day and half-day pre-school classes are available for three- and four-year olds. |

Pre-school classes follow a developmental and academic Christ-centered curriculum, preparing the students socially, emotionally, and physically for academic instruction in the elementary program. Our approach to pre-school instruction is unique in that we don’t simply baby-sit students. We use fun, hands-on activities to teach every child.
Students seeking admission to the pre-school classes and kindergarten must have reached the age of their level by September 1 of the year enrolling. All students entering pre-K and kindergartner are given a developmental screening to ascertain readiness for classes.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Grades 1-5
Students in the elementary grades continue to develop academic, physical, and social skills in all areas. In addition to the core areas of language arts, mathematics, science, history, and Bible, we offer a number of special area classes, such as Spanish, music, art, computer, and physical education. Admission requirements for students applying to grades one through five include evaluation of previous school records, all former standardized test scores, and an application and testing process. |
